O
Young residents of the Twin Cities learn about and make music with the Minnesota Orchestra. For more than 100 years, the Minnesota Orchestra Young Peopleâs Concerts have captivated and inspired students, schools, and families with favorites like Hansel and Gretel and Peter and the Wolf. Programs, in person and online, introduce young listeners to symphonic music and encourage young performers. Interactive Kinder Konzerts bring the joy of music to the littlest music lovers who are four and five years old.
Founded in 1903, the orchestra plays almost 200 performances each year on tour, broadcast on radio, or in its home hall in downtown Minneapolis. Over the years distinguished conductors have led this 98-musician ensemble in concerts and on recordings to critical acclaim. Summertime brings Sommerfest, offering a month of concerts with free performances of jazz, folk, and other musical genres outdoors on the plaza.
O is for Orchestra
The orchestra tunes from the lead violin. Listen, the concertâs about to begin.
